Rainy 75 Keyboard: Is This The Best $100 Mechanical Keyboard?

Rainy 75 Keyboard

Are thinking of getting your hands on the Rainy 75 keyboard?

Gamers are always looking for the latest gaming accessories with new features. After all, having a perfect setup makes a huge difference in the gaming experience. With cool designs and several performance features, the gaming keyboard is one of the top items that has seen a rise in demand since the advent of online gaming. Gamers like to try different keyboards with features matching their gaming style to enhance their experience with quick and efficient gaming key presses.

But that is not all a gaming keyboard does; it also helps speed up typing for writers as the keys are arranged in a more ergonomic fashion to facilitate quick and efficient use. It also increases efficiency for usual keyboarding work.

However, like everything, not all gaming keyboards are created equal. It is not wise to see an attractive keyboard and order it immediately. Many gaming keyboards do not last long as they bear the pressure of gamers’ fast fingers. So, before ordering any keyboard, you must dig down a bit to determine whether it is worth spending your hard-earned money.

If you are thinking of getting your hands on the Rainy 75 Mechanical Keyboard, let me make things easier for you with this review.  From design to build to material and quality, I will discuss all aspects of the Rainy 75.

Why Mechanical Keyboard?

WOBKEY Rainy 75 standard aluminum mechanical keyboard is being noticed in the community of mechanical keyboards. The keyboard has a mechanical switch beneath each key, which provides a more responsive and tactile experience. This is due to this tactile and swift actuation that many gamers prefer mechanical keyboards. In addition, simultaneous key presses make them well-suited for games where precise inputs and quick pressing are essential.

You will find the Rainy 75 fully assembled for around $100 on most websites. So, yes, it is an economical option. But the question is if this 75 mechanical keyboard has the ‘IT Factor.’ Let’s find out!

Unboxing Rainy 75 Keyboard

Let’s unpack it first. The mechanical keyboard comes in nice packaging along with a protection cover. Apart from the keyboard, you will get a switch and keycap puller, a manual, and 3 x spare switches.

Appearance and Build

Rainy 75 keyboard, as its name suggests, is made of 75% fully aluminum, which makes its build more durable and robust. It also reassures stability and better heat dissipation performance. Moreover, the aluminum material gives a more sleek and exquisite appearance and offers users a smooth and comfortable experience.

Rainy 75 mechanical keyboard has three variants: Rainy 5 Lite, Rainy 75 Standard, and Rainy 75 Pro. It comes in anodized silver, electro-white, electro-blue, and electro pink. You will also like the cute rainy logo on the backside. There is also a rectangular shiny aluminum plate on the back that gives the back support.

Compatibility and Connectivity

Rainy 75 mechanical keyboard provides triple-mode connectivity via wireless (2.4G connectivity), cable, and Bluetooth 5.0. The latency rate for wired connectivity is 2ms, wireless is 3ms, and Bluetooth is 7ms. After checking the Rainy75, I can say that connectivity is fast and reliable.

Keyboard Illumination

When it comes to keyboard lightning, Rainy 75 has a dazzling, addressable RGB illumination option. The A-RGB component features an IC (Integrated Circuit) and addresses each LED individually. Here, you should know that Rainy 75 Lite has no RGB, while Rainy 75 Pro and Standard have an A-RGB feature.

Keycaps and Switches

One thing I must say here is that the offers ultra-smoothness. The WOBKEY keyboard has a 1.2mm PCB with flex cuts which deliver soft typing experience. The keycaps of the Rainy 75 keyboard are made of high-quality double-shot PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), which adds to the keyboard’s lifespan and resists chemicals and oil to avoid a greasy look.

As Rainy 75 is a mechanical keyboard, all keys have a little lubed linear switch beneath the keycap for connecting the keys to the keyboard PCB. The Rainy 75 Lite keycaps have violet switches manufactured by HMX, the latest addition to the keyboard switch manufacturing space. However, the Rainy 75 Pro and Standard keyboards have switches manufactured by JWK, which is well-known for designing high-quality and extremely smooth switches for keyboards.

Next to the switches are M-One-mounted stabilizers to stabilize the keycaps and prevent shaking when they are pressed. Rainy 75 series are PCB gasket keyboards offering reduced typing noise, more cushion feels, and a softer experience. The mechanism of the gasket contributes to the stability and reduces vibration during rapid key pressing. This provides support in gaming for quick and precise keyboard pressing.

Foaming Structure

Rainy75 mechanical keyboards feature professional acoustic-made designs. They are equipped with proper cushioning and 8 x foaming. That’s not it; Rainy 75 contains 5 types of foams. Let’s get into those.

      • The star here is PORON, a urethane foam that is a remarkable material for foaming. It is known for its uniform density and lasting durability in mechanical keyboards. After being compressed, it returns to its original form. The application of PORON is appreciated in mechanical keyboards. The PORON layer is sound-dampening and offers a quieter typing experience by reducing keypress noise.

        • Next comes the PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) foam. You will get this foaming layer in Rainy 75 Pro and Standard keyboards. This provides compression strength and certain shear. This way, the keyboard gives a better sound signature.

          • The bottom foaming layer comprises EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). It is a keyboard-dampening foam that eliminates the noise echoing from the void between the keyboard PCB and the bottom case.

            • Finally, the Rainy 75 mechanical keyboard has a PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) sheet. It is a standard thermoplastic sheet that provides excellent mechanical strength, fair resistance to creep (slow movement), and high dimensional stability. Moreover, it is a good electrical insulator and has low moisture absorption.

          Weight and Battery

Rainy 75 Lite weighs approximately 1.8 kg, whereas Rainy 75 Standard and Rainy 75 Pro weigh 2 kg. As far as the battery is concerned, the Rainy 5 Lite has a 3500mAh battery. The Rainy75 Standard and Rainy 75 Pro have dual 3500mAh batteries. These batteries support negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors, which prevent batteries from being charged at temperatures that are too low or too high.

          Rainy 75 Keyboard: Final Thoughts

After reviewing the keyword, I can say that the WOBKEY Rainy75 mechanical keyboard offers an excellent value with its incredible foaming structure and produces a calming sound while typing. Not to forget, the price is unbeatable. There are slight differences in the Rainy 75 keyboard variants. For example, the Rainy 75 Lite has slightly fewer features, but you can get add-on packages such as split spaces and PCB-mounted stabs if required.

Considering the reduced pressing noise, ultra-smooth pressing experience, and comfortable foaming structure, the Rainy 75 mechanical keyboard can be a good choice for gamers, writers, and coders.
